Elche FC's 1923 first season

Elche FC's 1923 first season Elche Club de Futbol was founded in the summer of 1923 with the merging of all teams in the city of Elche. Their first goal came when they defeated Monovar, which had just been defeated, with a score of 4-0, and their second goal came when they defeated Crevillente Deportivo, who had scored 2-0. Their first major competition was the Tercera División during the 1929–30 season. They received promotions to the Second Division in the season 1933–34, were downgraded to the Tercer Division the next season, but received promotions again the following season. Elche was successfully promoted twice from the Tercera División to the Segunda División and finally to La Liga at the end of the 1950s. After losing 3-0 to CD Tenerife in the play-off semifinal in 1959, promotion to La Liga was announced.
