Elche FC's 1923 first season

Elche FC's 1923 first season Elche Club de Futbol was founded in the summer of 1923 with the merging of all teams in the city of Elche. Their first goal came when they defeated Monovar, which had just been defeated, with a score of 4-0, and their second goal came when they defeated Crevillente Deportivo, who had scored 2-0. Their first major competition was the Tercera División during the 1929–30 season. They received promotions to the Second Division in the season 1933–34, were downgraded to the Tercer Division the next season, but received promotions again the following season. Elche was successfully promoted twice from the Tercera División to the Segunda División and finally to La Liga at the end of the 1950s. After losing 3-0 to CD Tenerife in the play-off semifinal in 1959, promotion to La Liga was announced.

Atlético de Madrid Atlético Madrid memiliki sejarah yang berhubungan dengan Athletic Club Bilbao. Pada 1903 Atlético Madrid didirikan oleh pelajar dan mahasiswa dari Basque Country yang merantau di Kota Madrid, klub ini kemudian berpisah dari induknya di Bilbao pada 1920 dan memiliki nama Athletic Madrid.[1] Maka tak heran jika lambang dan shirt Atlético Madrid dengan Athletic Club Bilbao memiliki desain yang sama. Pada masa Perang Saudara 1936-1939, atas perintah Jenderal Francesco Franco, Athletic Madrid yang berisi orang Basque diakuisisi oleh rezim dan di likuidasi dengan klub sepak bola milik Angkatan Udara Spanyol, Athletic Aviacion de Madrid. Pada 1940 akhirnya secara resmi mengganti nama menjadi Atlético de Madrid
